MEDITATION
Before we begin our meditation, I want you to
recall some problem or challenge that you are
currently having, because in this meditation we are
going to pray over our problems and challenges using
the affirmation: “GOD IS
TAKING CARE OF IT.”
So, let’s say that together, “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT.” Each time before we say
this affirmation, we are going to take a deep
breath of God in and affirm on the out
breath. Now I invite you to close your eyes
and ponder on this Truth of God: “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT.” Whatever you need at this very
moment, God in infinite love and wisdom is
fulfilling it and taking care of it. Relax
deeply into the Presence of the Divine. Let go and
let God care for you, watch over you and protect
you. Right now, God is helping you to release your
tensions. Right now, God is dissolving your fears.
New peace and assurance come to you as you simply,
trustingly, and quietly take a deep breath of God
in and affirm: “GOD
IS TAKING CARE OF IT.”
Take another deep breath of God in and affirm firmly, in prayer: “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT.” Know that your prayer is already taking effect. Take another deep breath of God in and affirm it with a sense of finality and completion. “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT.” As you let God's love, wisdom and divine order take over, you feel an immediate sense of release, for you suddenly realize that you do have enough faith. You can be at peace for you are realizing now that you are a child of God. Take a deep breath of God in and affirm “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” Then rest in the silence of prayer and realize this Truth, “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” Human force and pressure are no longer needed for you have gained a new awareness of what it means to let go and let God. You have opened to a new and deeper level of spiritual understanding regarding your true relationship with God and risen within to a higher level of consciousness. The way is now clear for you to be a willing channel: God is the doer of good works through you. God does the work, not you. Your work is to know the truth and to let the Truth of God set you free. As you realize that God's Presence is within you and within the circumstance, resolving it in a perfect time and in perfect order. Take a deep breath of God in and affirm: “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” God is taking care of any condition or situation; dissolving whatever needs dissolving and resolving whatever needs resolving. God knows. God is here and there. God loves you. God cares. God is present and active now. You can be sure of that. Let go and let God take over. Doubt not. Fear not. God is in charge and “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” The pure life stream of the idea that “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT” is now going to work in you and through you. Marvelous blessings are at hand for God can handle all things better than you can even imagine. Let God’s gentle power begin to dominate your thoughts and feelings until you become a clear channel through which God's thoughts and God's love can freely flow. Wherever you are, God is there in the midst of your life, in the midst of the people around you, in the midst of the circumstance, in the midst of everyone and everything. Take a deep breath of God in and affirm with assurance: “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” God is taking care of everything in your life. God is taking care of everything in your mind. God is taking care of everything in your body. GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT! A heavy burden is lifted off your shoulders. The future invokes no feelings of wait or worry. You are free to live unhampered and unbound. You can think more clearly and respond and react to others more calmly and patiently. You are happier and more effective in all that you say and do when you take a deep breath of God in and remind yourself that: “GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT!” As we prepare to draw our meditation time to a close, give your mind the instruction to remember to carry this message with you every day and into each experience. Take a deep breath in and tell yourself, “I will remember that in all things, GOD IS TAKING CARE OF IT.” In an attitude of mastery and overcoming and in an attitude of total belief and release of that which is not good for us, we pray in Jesus Christ's name knowing that these things have come to pass in this moment of prayer. Thank you, God. Amen. In the Palm
of His Hand
Palm Sunday begins the last week of Jesus’ earthly life. Imagine for a moment that you are Jesus, and you know that you only have one week to live. You know that if your disciples don’t get the message and understand how to live the message it's all going to be lost because you know that in one week it isn’t going to be up to you anymore, it’s going to be up to them to carry that message on. That was the big burden on Jesus’ shoulders that morning that we now call Palm Sunday because He knew what was going to happen. In this lesson I’m going to share the story from the Gospel of Mark and hopefully open you to the spiritual message of this story. I'll begin at Mark 11:1: “And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage, and Bethany.” The name Jerusalem means: ‘a habitation of peace’. How do you draw near to a habitation of peace when you are not in a state of peace about some situation or condition in your life? You go by way of Bethphage and Bethany. The story says that “First they went to Bethphage.” Bethphage literally means a ‘house of unripe figs.’ But what do figs do? They ripen. Metaphysically Bethphage means ‘a place where grace is realized.’ Grace is realized inside of you and your life the minute you realize God; become one with God in prayer and know without a doubt that God is taking care of everything and that you're not alone. As you begin to learn about your spiritual nature, that idea is unripe in you at first, but if you keep holding it, it will ripen inside of you. At some point, the polarity will reverse, and you will stop thinking the idea and that idea will begin thinking you. Can you remember a time in your life when you realized God's Presence? A moment before, you might have been so into a problem that you felt great despair. Then something happened, something ripened and there was an inner revelation inside of you and you knew that you weren't alone; you knew that God was with you and was working with you and a feeling of ‘okness’ came over you. Then, the whole day was different; everything was different. Some people even decide to change their lives after an experience with God like this that comes in a split second when they realize Grace. Have you ever been to Bethany? Bethany means ‘place of wailing, lamentation and affliction.’ We've all been to Bethany more than once, haven't we? We’ve all lived for a while in the state of hurt, illness, or lack at some point in our lives. But, to go to Bethany by way of Bethphage means this time it is going to be different because it also means that this is the time and place where you demonstrate God’s power through you, over this condition. It is the turning point in your spiritual and physical life when you make your first big demonstration and prove that this Unity stuff really works! Your body may be sick at the moment; you may even be dying, when you realize that you are a spiritual being and can demonstrate over that problem; that the reason for the problem is a test for ‘skill demonstration’ to prove that spirit makes matter and that “he that is within me is greater than he that is in the world.” Or you realize that there is going to be a dramatic change in your finances because you have just made God the partner in your business. With that realization, your mind is open, and you begin to receive a flow of Divine Ideas. You have a clear direction of where to go and what to do. This is a marvelous revelation when it comes and now you are demonstrating OVER your condition. Let me tell you some more about Bethany. Jesus had a lot of history in Bethany. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and overcame the sorrow, lamentation and affliction of Mary and Martha. When Jesus raised Lazarus, He didn’t say, "Oh, Lazarus, I know you're dead and have been dead for three days and I have been told by the greatest doctors in the world what happens when a person is dead for three days. I know that everyone in the world tells me that I can't bring you back to life. I should have come sooner, but I didn't. Here I am now, and I sure hope this works," and then Jesus crossed his fingers and begged, "Pleeaasse God." THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT HAPPENED. With authority and with conviction, overcoming at that turning point of God/man and making the demonstration, He called forth the dead thing from the tomb. Then He says that we can do the same thing. What is your Lazarus? What do you have in your life that is causing you sorrow, lamentation, and affliction because it's stagnant; not moving, even dead? What can you call forth out of the tomb in your life today with the power of God’s help? This is what Jesus’ is talking about and demonstrating. The power that you already have because you are one with God. On the morning we call Palm Sunday, “Jesus sent out two of His disciples.” Jesus always sent out two of His disciples. Literally, two heads are better than one. Metaphysically, anytime your thinking nature and feeling nature are working together, there is also a third mind; the mind of the Divine; the Master Mind that comes in and works in your life to guide and power you. Remember, Jesus said, "Wherever two are gathered together in my name, I will be there in the midst of them." “He called two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, “Why are you doing this? Just say this, “The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.’ They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt.” And they told them what Jesus had said and they allowed them to take it.” Jesus told them what would happen before it happened. He told them what to expect and what to say. Precognition means that there was more going on here than the physical eyes and senses could see and pick up on. There was another force at work besides the force of the human. “Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields.” They were saying, "Here, we give You great honor because of who you are & what You have taught & what You are manifesting and demonstrating.” Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Hosanna!” translates from the Aramaic as “SAVE NOW.” If you're in the midst of Bethany of wailing, lamentation, and affliction; in the midst of a problem and hurting, your cry would be "save now" not save me next week or next month or next year! You don't want to wait and continue to suffer until some future time. You want help now. And that’s the whole message of the Bible and the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ. The Kingdom of God is at hand, your help NOW and can come to you immediately and with great power in this instant. “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest.” Heaven!” Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; & when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the 12.” For that ride, Jesus Christ chose a colt, a very small donkey. Worldly kings would make a triumphant entry riding the finest white horse. This means that it doesn't matter what the external conditions are, it’s what’s inside of you that counts. God is inside of you as Christ and that is what makes you great. “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” The word “Lord” used in the Parables of Jesus, means “Law” specifically the Spiritual Law of Creation or Mind Action: “Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind.” Your life and what you are currently demonstrating reflects a past level of consciousness; past thoughts and feelings you primarily held in mind. Jesus rode an animal that had never been sat on before down the 4 mile long, very narrow path into Jerusalem. (narrow is the way) If I were going to make this trip, I’d at least have asked for a colt that someone had tamed, trained, and ridden on. A colt that’s never been ridden could easily eject you from its back or turn around and bite you. And as I said, the path was very narrow. All the people around were very excited and there were small children waving palm branches. But Jesus was a great teacher who always did everything deliberately. He sat on the colt and overpowered the animal nature in that colt to demonstrate that the Christ consciousness of you has dominion, just like it says in Genesis, over all living things, including your lower instinctual self. When you learn to rise in Consciousness at Will, you have mastery over all lower states of consciousness; all lower thoughts, feelings, belief systems and negative habits that result from them. “On the following day, [this is Monday morning], when they came from Bethany [which is that place of demonstrating over hurt] He was hungry; [not only hungry for himself, but also hungry for humankind that you know the Truth that will set you free.” “Seeing in the distance, He saw a fig tree in leaf. He went to see if He could find anything on it. When he came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it: "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." He cursed the fig tree. Here is a tree that has all the potential to produce beautiful, luscious figs. But it refuses to do so and Jesus withers it away. This isn’t saying that God's going to punish you and wither you if you refuse to live up to your potential. It’s saying that you have the power to use the spoken word to wither any condition in your life that is not up to the Christ standard, anything that isn’t producing blessings or fruitful in your life; pull the plug on the thoughts and beliefs and feelings that cause you to experience lack so that they will never again be able to produce fruit. “The following day when came past the fig tree, they noticed that it had withered all the way down to its roots.” To wither a condition or sickness in your body or life to the roots, you must pull all your ‘thought energy’ out of so it won’t grow again. Release the power of God through the power of your spoken word by using denials and affirmations.’ And then, Jesus and with the Twelve are standing and looking at the withered fig tree says, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea' and does not doubt in is heart but believes that what he says will come to pass. And it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatsoever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone so that your Father who is in heaven may forgive your trespasses.” In today’s language, Jesus is saying release all your cherished beliefs, opinions, and judgments that block your good. Then, pray believing like Jesus did in Bethany when he stood at the tomb of Lazarus. He looked upward to the Christ of his being and believing that Spirit is always dominant over matter because Spirit makes matter, he used the power of the spoken word and “I called it into being.” He called Lazarus to life. Jesus used the few precious days he had left to tell people of their power praying that in the crowd or among the disciples, some would have the eyes to see and the ears to hear his message of liberation. Thankfully some did and they preserved his message for us to continue to carry forth for humanity. God Bless You! What do you think? © Unity of Vancouver, 2004 All Rights Reserved. |
