I invite you to close your eyes and open your heart to experience the Presence of God and the living presence of Jesus Christ who is here right now, lifting you up into His level of consciousness. Quietly affirm, “I am open and receptive to the loving Spirit of Truth.” You are one with the Infinite One. Wherever you are God is. As you let that Mind be in you, that was in Christ Jesus, the very light that illumined Him is guiding and directing you on your path of fulfillment. Quietly affirm, “Divine Light guides and directs me. I walk an illumined path.”
Take that idea into the Silence. Make it your truth and let it do its perfect work inside of you. Quietly affirm, “Divine Light guides and directs me. I walk an illumined path.” The Spirit of the Lord goes before you, making your way straight. Quietly affirm, “I know what to do and I do it.”
Trust God and remember that the very light that guides, illumines and directs you, also heals you. Divine Light nurtures and strengthens you and expresses through you as wholeness and well-being. Affirm, “Divine light nurtures and strengthens me. I express wholeness and well being.” Feel that and be with that realization for a moment in the Silence of prayer. (pause)
If there is someone in your life who needs healing, hold that prayer for him or her. Quietly affirm, “Divine light nurtures and strengthens you. You express wholeness and well being.”
You are not alone. The very same Divine Presence that illumines your path and that guides, directs and heals you also prospers you. The very same light that fills your heart with desire guides and helps you to make the right and perfect choices to make those desires manifest. Divine Presence in you is guiding you right now to the abundance of the universe. And so, if you have any sense of lack or limitation in your life, if you are experiencing a challenge of thinking that there isn’t enough, align yourself right now with the abundance of the universe by affirming, “Divine love cares and provides for me. I am prospered in every way.”
Jesus said, “Fear not, little flock; it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. And resting in that glorious realization let us draw our prayer time to close by speaking together our Prayer for Protection in its entirety.
The Light of God surrounds me.
The Love of God enfolds me.
The Power of God protects me.
The Presence of God watches over me.
The Mind of God guides me.
The Life of God flows through me.
The Laws of God direct me.
The Power of God abides within me.
The Joy of God uplifts me.
The Strength of God renews me.
The Beauty of God inspires me.
Wherever I am, God is! Amen.
The Stepladder of Fulfillment
Once upon a time, a Rabbi and a Soap Maker went on a walk together. The Soap maker said, “What good is religion? Look at all the trouble and misery in the world after thousands of years of praying, sermons and teaching about goodness, truth, and peace. If religion is good and true, why is it still so?” The Rabbi said nothing, and they just continued walking in silence until the Rabbi noticed a child playing in the gutter. He said, “Look at that child. You say that soap makes people clean, but see the dirt on that youngster? Of what good is soap? With all the soap in the world, that child is still filthy. I wonder how effective soap is after all.” The Soap Maker protested and said, “But Rabbi, soap can’t do anything unless it is used.” “Exactly,” replied the Rabbi. “So, it is with religion. It is ineffective unless it is applied and used correctly.”
Unity is often referred to as ‘Practical Christianity.’ Unity isn’t just another religion, it is a way of life based on learning and living the first century teachings of Jesus Christ who said, “Fear not. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give to you the riches of the Kingdom of Heaven.” He also said, “I have come that you may have life, and have life more abundantly.” The Bible tells us that we are meant to be co-creators with God. There is a creative process involved in making your dreams come true. A way of thinking and being in you that works like a ladder. There are seven specific steps to be taken by you when you experience a desire in the climb up the ladder of fulfillment. They are easy to take and they will make a huge and positive difference in every area of your life when you take them. Let’s look at those seven steps now.
Step 1. Accept the desire as your unlimited good from God. The word ‘Desire’ means "of the Father." God has given you a desire. It is an aspect of your Divine Inheritance trying to make its way from the invisible realm of Spirit, through you to the visible realm of form. Everyone has desires. The very fact that you have a desire means that desire is possible for you to fulfill at this moment in time. We must stop making excuses for why we can't have something or why we can’t do something and start seeing a desire like a box delivered from U.P.S. with our name on it. A desire is a message sent directly to you from God to tell you that what you desire is already yours and to tell you that the time is right for you to act and obtain it.
All creation begins with desire. According to today’s Physicists and quantum field theorists all material things whether they are cars, human bodies, or dollar bills are made up of atoms and fluctuations of energy and information in one huge field of energy and information. They say that nature goes to the same place to create a galaxy of stars, a rain forest, or a human body as it goes to create a thought. In other words, all of material creation, everything that you can see, touch, taste, or smell is made from the same stuff and comes from the same Source including you. This Source of all Creation, of all abundance and affluence is pure consciousness, pure potentiality, and this field of pure potentiality is continually seeking expression. It is constantly in motion and either moving from the invisible realm of pure potentiality to the world of form or from the world of form back into the realm of pure potentiality.
There are some desires that are not ‘of God’. These desires are easy to spot because they can harm others or us and stem from personal addiction, which means they stem from only the human part of us. You have many desires inside your mind—gifts sent to you by God, but you also have freewill to make the choice whether to accept or refuse a gift. Many people have latent desires; desires that remain dormant for their entire life because they never take the steps up the ladder of fulfillment. They never take any action to make their desires come true. They just feel frustrated about not having their dreams fulfilled or are waiting for God to drop something in their laps. Jesus explained that it doesn’t work like that. He said that God works and we must work with God to take the steps to manifest our dreams, whatever they are.
Step 2. Make a decision to accept the responsibility to act on a desire and to do whatever is necessary to allow God to come through you. For example: There was an overweight businessman who desired to shed some excess pounds. He took his new diet very seriously and even changed his driving route to avoid his favorite bakery. However, one morning, he arrived at work carrying a gigantic coffeecake. His co-workers all scolded him, but a smile remained on his face. He said, "You don’t understand! This is a very special coffee cake. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning. There in the window was a host of goodies. I felt this was no accident, so I prayed, "Lord, if you want me to have one of those delicious coffee cakes, let me find a parking place directly in front of the bakery.” “Sure enough," he continued, "The eighth time I drove around the block, there it was." The key of step two is to act responsibly by doing things that take you in the direction of your desire.
Step 3: Ask for God’s help ‘knowing’ that God will never let you down. Ask for guidance and strength and then ask again and again until that desire is made manifest. Once you recognize a desire and decide to act on that desire, the next step in manifesting that desire is always an inward one. Take that desire into prayer and meditation and ask the Presence and Power that gave you that desire for the guidance and strength needed to manifest it. The root word of the word ‘ask’ means, ‘to claim’. ‘Ask and Know’ without a doubt that your desire can and will, come through you. The only way it can be stopped is if you stop it at some level of your consciousness by refusing to take a step in climbing the ladder of fulfillment.
Step 4: Move forward toward your desire in love. Never harm anyone or anything on your path to fulfillment. God is love. If you want more of God in your life in some form, you must first become that love in manifestation. Love is a magnet, which draws whatever you need or desire from the spiritual realm to you through you. If you want more love in your life, you must first become love by finding ways to express more love. Jesus said, “As you give so shall you receive.” In other words, as you love, so shall you reap.
If you have a problem, love is the answer. If fulfilling your desire hurts you or someone or something else, it is not from God and Christ consciousness. It is from the ego and instinctual consciousness. A large percentage of humanity’s physical ills are due to mental strain. Mental strain is a condition that has at its conception the absence of love, which is a state of fear. John 3:2 says, “Beloved I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” For example: A man was driving home from work one day and stopped to watch a little League baseball game that was being played in a park near his home. As he sat down on a bench, he asked one of the boys what the score was. The little boy got a big smile on his face and said, “We are behind fourteen to nothing.” The man said, “Really? You don’t seem discouraged about it.” The child answered, “Why should I be, we haven’t even been up to bat yet!” Be like that child. Step up to bat each day of your life, living your faith and expressing the love God feels for you. Every situation is filled with the potential to expand your prosperity consciousness by releasing more of the goodness of God.
Step 5: Unquestioning Faith. Jesus said, “According to what you believe, you will receive. By your faith it is done unto you.” He also said to give thanks in advance of receiving. Jesus demonstrated his own unquestioning faith when he called his friend Lazarus from the tomb. There was once a man who didn’t have unquestioning faith in God. He was a very intelligent man, but he was only looking to the physical world with his physical eyes. One day he was at a street corner and he saw a blind girl walking across a very busy intersection with her Seeing Eye dog. He said, "If that blind girl can have faith in that dog, then I can have faith in God." Here is a true story of how God works that I found very inspirational. One night a house caught fire and a young boy was forced to flee to the roof. The father stood on the ground below with outstretched arms, calling to his son, “Jump! I’ll catch you.” He knew that his son had to jump to save his own life. But all his son could see between himself and his father was fire, smoke and blackness. As a result, all his son could feel was panic. So, his father called to him again, “Jump son! I will catch you.” But the boy was filled with fear. He cried out, “I can’t. Daddy, I can’t see you!” The Father replied, “But I can see you and that’s all that matters.” And in that instant, the boy jumped and took the action that saved his life. Many times, when we have a desire, we act just like that little boy. Our physical eyes are so locked on the obstacles that we believe exist between us and our good, between us and God that we refuse to move. We don't trust enough to let go and let God by surrendering ego control. This results in fear. So, we cry, “Father help me!” When you can’t see the way clearly remember, God can see everything and knows everything. Go to that quiet place within, feel God and know that “Everything works together for good for those who believe.” Believe what? Believe strongly enough in God and good to keep taking steps forward knowing your good is just ahead of you on your path. In fact, your good is blocking your path and you can’t avoid running into it as you go forward.
Step 6: Build your life one thought at a time. “So, in mind so in manifestation.” There was once a woman by the name of Henrietta Woeisme. She imagined her life as a dead end and her gifts and talents from God as almost nonexistent. She walked through life as if it was a dark room and something to be feared more than enjoyed. She felt very alone and could only imagine her life getting worse. There was another woman by the name of Molly Lifeisgood. Molly had many friends because everyone wanted to be near her. She lived in the same neighborhood as Henrietta, but she saw life entirely different. Molly believed in God. Even when she could see storm clouds brewing with her physical eyes, her faith could look beyond appearances, and she could only imagine life getting better. A lot of people feel like they are helpless to affect any change in their life. They feel hopeless. Do you know what hopelessness is? Hopelessness is like being in a pitch-dark room, looking for a black cat that isn't there. Do you know what a miracle is? A miracle is like being in a pitch-dark room, looking for a black cat that isn't there and finding it. You are made in the image and the likeness of God. All the possibilities and qualities of God are already inside of you. When Jesus said, “You must become like a little child to see Heaven,” he was talking about the way we think and use our God given gift of imagination. You are the thinker of your thoughts. As a co-creator with God, you build your life, thought by thought. The next time you look at yourself in a mirror, instead of thinking about and counting all the things that are wrong, think about and count all the things that are right and begin to build a belief of God in you. One of the qualities of God is Infinite creativity. What could be more creative than the act of manifesting the entire universe? But manifesting the universe is nothing other than the manifestation of thought from the level of Pure Being. Pure Being, thinking to itself, “May I become the waters,” becomes the waters. Pure Being thinking to itself, “May I become the mountains”, becomes the mountains; Pure Being, thinking to itself “May I become the galaxies”, becomes the galaxies. Pure Being, undisturbed, silent, eternal is the state of bliss. A flicker of thought in this state, a little disturbance and out of it the whole universe manifests. The great Sufi poet Rumi once said, “We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust.”
Step 7: Work with God and don’t try to do it alone. Often, we work and work and nothing seems to happen because we are trying to do it alone. In other words, we are acting only from the level of our humanity and only with human will. We lose hope and get discouraged because we get locked into our own limited thinking. We think we must figure it out all by ourselves, so we travel through life like a hamster on a wheel, continuously running, but never really getting anywhere. We can fall into that habit pattern many times during the day; that’s what it means to be locked into our human level of mind. When we move from that level of mind to that quiet place within, we find Divine Mind, and a whole stream of higher God thought inside us that gives us the answers we need. When you go to work in the morning, go knowing, that you are not just an ordinary human being. You are first and foremost a spiritual being having an occasional human experience. Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s Business.” Our primary work is to be about our Father’s business and that is ‘to be’ God’s love in action. Sometimes we pray expecting God to do all the work for us and to just drop the finished product of our desire into our lap. Sitting down in a lotus position with your hands upward is not enough in and of itself to produce your dreams. Sitting in a lotus position can be done at the very start of your dream and as part of the ‘asking’ step but you have to take all the steps as they come to you to make your dreams come true. God doesn’t work ‘for us.’ God works with us, through us and all around us. Paul said, “We live, move and have our being in God.”It has been my experience that God usually doesn’t give us the whole plan at once. God usually gives us the next step to take and the strength to take it. True prosperity is a way of looking at life as if everything happens for your benefit. From this perspective you learn to accept what is and are open to learn how to work with it.
I want to close with a modern day Parable called PARABLE OF THE PENCIL.
“The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box & said, "Before I send you out into the world, there are five things you need to know. Always remember them and you will become the best pencil you can be."
1: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone's hand.
The pencil understood and promised to remember and went into the box with purpose in its heart.
Now put yourself in the place of the pencil.
1: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand and allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
By understanding and remembering, the seven steps up the ladder of fulfillment let us proceed with our life on this earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart and a moment by moment by moment, day by day working relationship with God that allows us to always be the best we can be. God blesses you. Have a great day!
